When they bought a manor from the 19th century in 2007 the owners of this B&B De Groene Maan (The Green Moon) decided to rebuilt and redesign this house in an ecological way. They chose for the recycling concept and bought only secondhand furniture (except from the beds) for the rooms; you´ll find also sheets and towels made of soja-fiber, nature-based care and cosmetic products, and a breakfast will be served that consists of biological food.
This charming B&B is situated in the beautiful old city of Mechelen/Mechlin/Malines, in between Brussels and Antwerp, which both aren´t far neither. Visitors to Belgium often only visit the main cities like Bruges, Brussels and Antwerp. This is because they don't know that a little bit outside of the beaten track, there are other beautiful historic sites in our country. Mechelen is one of those sites and deserves to be visited!

Romantic Bed & Breakfast

In the Spring 2010-issue of the Belgian Landelijk Wonen - magazine I found this beautiful report about B&B Loverlij, situated in West-Flanders/Belgium.

´All the bedrooms have the names of old roses. Blanche Fleur, Rosalita, Belle Amour´...

´All started with roses´, tells Lies, owner of the most lovely Bed & Breakfast Loverlij, which is situated in Belgium, near romantic town Bruges. ´In fact it did start with one rose and finally we managed to create 40 garden-rooms with more than 1000 kinds of roses, ranged according to a theme´.

The interior of this B&B is white, fresh and romantic. The lady of the house likes to use natural materials and combines easily old things with new, vintage with modern. The building is a ´hoeve´, a farm from the 1300´s and Lies and her partner rebuilt and renovated the entire building. Amateurs of canopy beds, embroidery and soft colours will find their pleasure here. Guests may take a bath in the nice perfume of roses-oil and during Summertime everywhere you´ll find bouquets with fragrant roses.

Welcome in the world of Isabella Sallusti, mother, farmer, B&B-keeper and TV-cook. Isabelle started her career as a contributor for a Parisian magazine, but she bought a piece of land in Saint-Jeannet (1 hour from Nice), when she didn´t like anymore the stress of the city. And there ´Graine & Ficelle´ was born. The B&B and its lodges are situated in the ´Alpes Maritimes´-area, in a village at half an hour distance of Nice Côte d´Azur Airport and the Nice-TGV station.

Nearby you can visit Grasse, famous for its lavenderfields and perfumes.
